Thomas holds a PhD in Avalanche Science and is a fully accredited IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide with a Master's degree in Alpine Meteorology. He has extensive experience in outdoor education, having served as an instructor in a guide training program at a university in Canada and managed an adventure guide training program in Iceland. Thomas is passionate about advancing avalanche safety and conducts cutting-edge alpine safety research for the German Alpine Club. He has extensive backcountry guiding experience in Canada, leading groups through pristine wilderness terrain. Beyond his guiding and teaching roles, Thomas is committed to research and innovation in avalanche science, contributing to studies that enhance understanding of snowpack dynamics and risk management in mountainous environments. He is a regular contributor at industry conferences, sharing insights on avalanche safety, meteorological impacts, and best practices for outdoor leadership.
